To mark the centenary of the moment when Howard Carter first looked into the tomb of Tutankhamun and uttered the famous words “wonderful things”, this study-day tells the story of how Carter, the son of a Swaffham artist, forged a career in Egyptology and doggedly pursued the tomb of the boy-king, only to be rewarded with one the greatest archaeological discoveries ever made.
